Simrit presents new products at the Farnborough International Airshow
Weinheim, July 19, 2010. The Farnborough International Airshow which begins today holds a prominent position in the world's aerospace calendar. It is held at the same venue in the UK once every two years, and this year's show promises to be the most exciting to date. The Freudenberg Group is taking part in 2010, and the Group's main exhibitor is the technology specialist Freudenberg Seals and Vibration Control Technology with its Simrit brand. However, many other Freudenberg products also play an important role in civil aviation and are to be found at the Farnborough International Airshow from July 19 - 25 - even though visitors may not notice some of them straight away.
Airbus, Boeing or Bombardier - Freudenberg Seals and Vibration Control Technology's Simrit brand offers the world's largest product range in this sector. Certified sealing components help ensure the safety and efficiency of modern aviation technology and are developed in close cooperation with aircraft manufacturers.
The product spectrum ranges from radial shaft seals and O-rings for use in engines and undercarriage systems as well as various hydraulic applications to special sealing systems to stabilize aerodynamics and cabin pressure. Simrit supplies special flat gaskets for highly-sensitive engine and fuel applications. And other products have a vital function in fire protection. Fireproof and heat-resistant seals, for example, protect electrical connections and are used in firewalls. Flat gaskets and mechanical seals such as bearing seals and sealing systems for kerosene pumps produced by the company's subsidiary EagleBurgmann also feature in many aircraft.
Apart from their applications in the aircraft themselves, Freudenberg products are also used on the ground. Freudenberg Filtration Technologies, for example, supplied exhaust air filters for the A380 paint shop in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, where Viledon Compact pocket filters and Viledon MaxiPleat cassette filters ensure good air quality and a safe working environment.
In addition, Freudenberg minimizes noise - and stress - levels at airports with a sophisticated technical solution. SoundTex, an acoustic nonwoven, improves room acoustics by shortening reverberation time. The family company recently equipped Shanghai-Hongqiao Airport with this innovative product, thereby making a significant contribution to the infrastructure of World Expo 2010.
