We all take care
Since the start in 2002, our We all take care initiative has motivated employees around the world to make their work and workstations safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly, and to take responsibility for society. In this way, the initiative expresses the way that Freudenberg lives its corporate values – beyond national boundaries, hierarchical levels and individual business units. More than 3,000 projects have been submitted so far.
We all take care is one of the most successful initiatives in the history of Freudenberg.
A healthy start to the working day
Too little time for sport and healthy eating – this is the everyday life of many office workers. Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions in Rochdale, UK, saw a need for action and founded the project "We are what we eat!" The goal was to encourage a more active and balanced lifestyle, in the office and outside. Around 75 percent of employees participated in the project in one way or another. Many of them lost weight and improved their fitness through a healthier diet and increased exercise. Especially remarkable: in 2014, the number of sick days fell by over 50 percent compared to the previous year.
"Safety Blitz Idea" improves saftey
The continuous improvement of safety standards is a key focus for EagleBurgmann in Wolfratshausen/Eurasburg, Germany. Preventing accidents is top priority, and reporting near misses is a key prevention tool. Following analysis of the reporting process, the project team drew inspiration from the "Blitz Idea" concept that was already in place at the site. This popular form enables colleagues to easily submit simple ideas for improvement. The team used this as the basis for developing the "Safety Blitz Idea". Both problem and solution can be described in just a few words. With the introduction of the "Safety Blitz Idea", the number of reports of near misses and potential hazards rose from 8 to 10 per year to around 400 in 2015.
Over 70% resource savings
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies' stamping and shaping unit has developed a new method for producing metal components for Simmerrings, winning "Der Deutsche Innovationspreis 2011" for this innovation. The award was made for the company's ground-breaking SUL (German acronym for "narrow strip-forming laser welding") technology, which brings significant progress in occupational health and safety and environmental protection.
Enriching school life in Hungary
In the Hungarian city of Kecskemét, employees of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies are supporting a neighboring primary school whose financial resources are severely restricted. In 2012, they planted 50 trees on the school grounds to give the students a place to play during the breaks. The employees also donated computers, printers, telephones and furniture that was no longer being used, such as desks, chairs and shelves. In the summer of 2015, employees enabled 120 students to enjoy a trip to the forest. At Christmas, they surprised the students with sports equipment such as table tennis bats and badminton rackets.
